The Family

Engelbert Prieler: The Senior Partner

Together with his wife, Irmgard, Engelbert has spent the last 30 years making the estate what it is today. His present job is tending the vineyards: taking care of pruning, cultivation and harvesting.

Irmgard Prieler: The Lady of the House

She and Engelbert have gone through thick and thin together. Now their three children are at the helm – but that doesn’t mean that life has become quieter. Irmgard still works with Engelbert in the vineyards.

Silvia Prieler: The Manager

Together with her brother Georg, Silvia is in charge of the cellar. Moreover, she is a highly passionate representative of the winery, taking part in presentations and tastings, and even running the office. It is a tribute to Silvia’s persistence that the Prielers make one of the most exciting Pinot Noirs in Austria today.

Georg Prieler: The Young Wild One

The youngest offspring of the family, Georg, studied viticulture at the VinoHAK in Neusiedl and gained further know-how during periods of practical training in the world’s most important winegrowing regions.
Now he works in the cellar and is responsible for the choosing the yeast and fermentation methods, ageing and bottling.

Michaela Prieler: The Bookkeeper

Michaela does the many jobs that are often – and incorrectly – considered secondary: she takes meticulous care of the bookkeeping and has a sharp overview of the finances.
