The Treasures of the Cellar
In the cool darkness of the wine-cellar there is an atmosphere of quiet anticipation. The Prielers’ wines develop at a leisurely pace: in the barrel, in the bottle, and later in the glass. From Welschriesling to Goldberg Blaufränkisch, all the wines have an unmistakable style. The Prielers make wines worth discovering and contemplating: dense and rich in minerals, complex, long-lived, with distinct tannins in the reds. “We want to make wines that will continue to develop”, says Georg.
The grapes are carefully crushed and fermented at closely controlled temperatures in steel tanks or wooden barrels. The impressive exception is the Chardonnay Seeberg, which is fermented right from the start in barriques, where it acquires its soft, dense body.
The character of the wine decides how it is to spend the rest of its maturation. White wines like the Pinot Blanc Seeberg remain in a stainless-steel tank until they’re ready to bottle, thus retaining their fruitiness and freshness. Our classic wines like the Blaufränkisch Johanneshöhe stay in big wooden barrels to keep their fruit and spicy character. Our top red wines like the Goldberg Blaufränkisch mature best in barriques.
These are wines that you will keep in mind.
